Q: What
is an FCE
A: FCE stands
for Functional Capacity Examination. An FCE provides
information about the physical capabilities of an individual and
his or her ability
to resume pre-injury job duties.It is an objective examination to
determine
an employee's maximal physical performancein a controlled and safe
environment.
MedLink's national network of FCE providers utilize computer software
driven equipment that accurately evaluates the physical abilities
of the
claimant. These systems have built in validity, peer reviewed protocols
and the reliability to be completely foolproof and legally defensible.
Q: What happens
during the exam?
A: The claimant will be put through a series
of physical tests related
to the claimany's job demands. The informaion is utilized to determine
return-to-work status and/or if modifications at work need to be
made.
Q: How will
the test feel?
A: The patient may experience fatigue after
the evaluation or may have
some muscle stiffness the day after the evaluation.
Q:
Is there any special preparation for the exam?
A: Workers
should wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
